I enjoy every book that Mr. Silva writes. Some I like better than others and this one falls in the less liked category - but enjoyed nonetheless. This book seems to start the field retirement of Gabriel as the action is muted in comparison to other stories. I hope that this will not be the case once Mr. Allon takes over the office and starts his new office job.
Mr. Silva's art expertise, knowledge of all places European, and ability to wow with vocabulary is at the forefront of the writing style. None of that which makes him such a fantastic author shows any sign of diminishing. I give him a pass here since every author must slide a bit. He is such a leader in the storytelling world, that I would rather have him rush a book here or there so that I get to read him sooner.
