I wanted to like this book. The author obviously did extensive research and was able to compile a free flowing compilation of the main character. She is to be commended for her ability to take extensive amounts of minutia and weave a story.
The book started out somewhat lively and held my attention. Once the sea rescue occurs, the story bogs down into a continuing rehash of the same story. I became tired of reading about the same old thing.
I must confess that I am not much of a non-fiction reader. I like the interaction between the characters and plot twists in fiction. If you are a devoted non-fiction reader of a WWII prison camp survivor, look no further than this book.
